A young boy performs a ritual to bring back his dead mother, but the spell goes wrong and he contacts somebody else.
'Mother' was the end result of the project ‘Mother, a Study in Horror’, which lasted for seven months and aimed at understanding the horror genre in film.
I divided this project into two parts. The first one revolved around a theoretical research on the techniques horror filmmakers use to create fear in their audiences, which was followed by an analysis of some of the best scenes in the genre.
In the second part, I created the short film, which involved working in several areas of filmmaking, and I finished this project interviewing Jaume Balagueró, one of the best Spanish horror film directors.
Although the project was included in the Bachillerato Artístico curriculum, I always planned to submit the short film to several film festivals, such as the Sitges Film Festival or the Molins Film Festival.
Special mention in the London-X4 Short Film Festival.
